Why check blacklists?

Mail servers worldwide consult blacklists (DNSBLs) before accepting a message. If your domain or your website's IP is on one, your emails land in spam — or get rejected outright — with no warning. Many small businesses lose clients for weeks before noticing.

How does a domain get listed?

The most common causes: a hacked website sending spam without your knowledge, a contact form abused by bots, a misconfigured sending provider, or an IP address shared with a bad neighbour. The good news: once the cause is fixed, delisting can be requested for free on each list's website.

What to do if you are listed?

1) Find the cause (run our full security check — a vulnerable site is often the entry point). 2) Fix it. 3) Request delisting on the list's site (Spamhaus, SpamCop…). 4) Enable free monitoring: we re-check daily and alert you if you get relisted.

Frequently asked questions

What is a blacklist (DNSBL)?

A public database of IP addresses and domains associated with spam or malicious activity. Mail servers consult them in real time to filter incoming messages.

Why do my emails land in spam?

A blacklist listing is one of the main causes, along with misconfigured SPF/DKIM/DMARC. Check both: this test for blacklists, and our full check for your email authentication.

Does delisting cost anything?

No — reputable lists (Spamhaus, SpamCop) offer free delisting once the cause is fixed. Beware of services charging for an « express delisting ».

Which lists do you check?

Spamhaus ZEN and PSBL and SpamCop for your website's IP address, and Spamhaus DBL for the domain's own reputation. These are the lists most consulted by mail servers.

Is this test really free?

Yes, free and no signup. We only query public sources.
